Napa River Fishing Report 8-19-10

The River is realy heating up!!!! alot of 6-8lb. Stripers being caught now with your fare share of schoolies.... Cut bait such as Anchovie, Sardines will always get you fish but it is the time of year to start useing that fly rod throwing streamers, clousers. Also a good time to throw hair razors and swimbaits, white is always the hot color!! And were to go?? Any cut in the bank or where there is run off. I like the top of the tide myself.

Sturgeon has picked up too if you can keep your bait off the crabs, this time of year the crabs move in thick for spawning, And watch out for the bogey Bat Ray there moving in as well. And are alot of fun to catch!

Napa River Report 7-28-10

Not much has changed from last week, Stripers still slow for the big ones but plenty of schoolies to get the kids on. Cut Anchovie seems best right now.Trolling and casting swimbaits and rattle traps are only paying off with small fish with a keeper from time to time.
Sturgeon has slowed way down this week reported by many local fisherman. But are seeing many still jumping, pileworms and ghoastshrimp still seem to be the choice for the few that are still out there.
Carp fishing has picked up for many bank fisherman up river past Copia, with good numbers of fish being caught between 12and 20lbs. and should last all summer, great sport fish to chase when the main river is slow. corn seems to work best as well as many homemade baits.

Napa River Fishing Report 7-21-10

The fishing for Striper has picked up a bit, alot of schoolies being caught with a keeper being had from time to time.Fisherman are hoping it will pick up in a month or so with some larger fish. Great time to get the kids out!!!! Cut Anchovie is working well. Sturgeon fishing is scattered but still there, but not as strong as it was a month ago, pileworms, ghost shrimp are still the bait of choice that is working well. Dont forget Sweeney Sports has all your terminal tackle and bait needs.
